Indication/Uses: 

1. Erectile Dysfunction (ED):
   • Used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men, which is the inability to achieve or maintain a penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance.

Uses:

1. Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction:
   • Sildenafil Citrate works by enhancing the effect of nitric oxide, which is released in response to sexual stimulation. Nitric oxide activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, resulting in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which leads to smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow to the penis, facilitating an erection.
2. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH):
   • In some cases, Sildenafil is also used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) under a different brand name and dosage form. It helps improve exercise ability and delay worsening of the condition by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs, allowing blood to flow more easily.

Dosage and Administration:

• Erectile Dysfunction:
  • The recommended dose is 50mg taken as needed approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. However, Sildenafil can be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
  • Dosage may be adjusted based on effectiveness and tolerance. It can be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100mg or decreased to 25mg.
